After working in the business community for seven years, I returned to school to learn how to serve others in a new way.  I completed my masters degree in Counseling Psychology and a post graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, and have been actively working in the field since 2004.

My work as a Marriage and family therapist has focused on work with couples.  The approach developed by Doctor Susan Johnson, called Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) has significantly impacted the field and helped numerous marriages. I have been through advanced training in EFT and am working toward full certification in this approach.  It is exciting to witness the change in couples as they experience a greater understanding of the negative cycle they get stuck in so that with this new awareness are able to connect in a new and meaningful way.

Life is full of challenges, and it is not about trying to avoid them, but it is about learning how to face and work through them more effectively.  I am personally familiar with facing life challenges. My husband of over 25 years and I were blessed with three sons in the short span of 18 months.  This brought a lot of challenges along with the joy, and I am happy to report that we now have three grown adult sons.

I have also faced the medical challenges of back surgery, ovarian cancer, and most recently the pain and limitations of arthritis. Additionally, I have set and worked toward personal goals by completing two marathons and five sprint triathlons.  I work continually toward creating a healthy life balance, and look forward to working with you to help you to learn tools that will allow you to do the same.
